The stunning beauty of our solar system is presented through 41 spectacular images by American artist and writer Michael Benson. A North-American première, Otherworlds is now on view at the Canadian Museum of Nature, Ontario.
The exhibition demonstrates that the visual legacy of six decades of space exploration constitutes a visually stunning, important chapter in the history of photography.
Based on raw scientific data from NASA and the European Space Agency, Benson’s processed, composite images reveal striking landscapes in high resolution.
Otherworlds is accompanied by a bespoke soundscape titled “Deep Space,” produced by British ambient-music composer Brian Eno.
Otherworlds has previously appeared in various leading European museums, including the Natural History Museums in London and Vienna, as well as the Queensland Museum, Brisbane. After Ottawa, the exhibition travels to the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, 26 October 2019 - 2 February 2020.
The presentation of Michael Benson’s Otherworlds at the Canadian Museum of Nature is supported by the United States Embassy in Ottawa.
