Michael Wolf The Silent Man Walks Into the City
Michael Wolf held his gaze between two opposing forces of the city: on one side, the immense, dense, repetitive, and hyper-efficient urban structure; on the other, the small freedoms that the ordinary people living within it still managed to preserve. This act of watching is itself a small but genuine form of autonomy. Through such watching, we may rediscover, within the life the city has already arranged for us, all that has not yet been arranged-light, time, chance, memory, and the poetry that an ordinary person can still call their own. - Lin Yi
