Mirth: merriness; pleasure; delight; gaiety; jollity; laughter.
There must have been humour in Jesus' life and among the disciples. They were not a miserable lot, going around the towns and villages telling people that they were forbidden to laugh, that they were doomed. Jesus and his disciples wanted to spread the good news of forgiveness and salvation. It was G.K Chesterton, in his book 'The Everlasting Man' (1925) who described the Mirth of Jesus. -Peter Howson, 2026
