Jesus was visited by Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling's council. He came to Jesus at night. Most meetings between Pharisees and Jesus were antagonistic, but Nicodemus really wanted to learn. He was probably afraid of what his colleagues might think, so he decided on a secret meeting at night. After his questions, Jesus respectfully said to him, 'I tell you the truth, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born again.' John 3:3
Nicodemus did not fully understand what he was being told, but later, when Jesus was in deep trouble, he spoke up for him. Later again, it was Joseph of Arminathea and Nicodemus who provided a place of burial, a tomb in the rocks. -Peter Howson, 2026
