London-based artist Trevor Sutton (b 1948) makes art that embodies the restraints of a ritualistic and pragmatic process with that of pure sensual pleasure. The atmospheric references to landscape visible in much of his work have been superseded by a significant withdrawal to a less referential abstract position. His colour saturated works offer the viewer remote spaces in which to place their imaginings.
British artist Trevor Sutton is represented in public collections including the Tate Gallery, London, and Pallant House, Chichester.
