Tim Lewis featured in After Nature: Beauty and Decay, from Savery to Today
To mark the 450th anniversary of Roelant Savery (1576-1639), more than twenty masterpieces by the Kortrijk-born painter enter into dialogue with contemporary art. From imaginary landscapes and fantastical creatures to endangered species and the depletion of nature: age-old fascinations turn out to be strikingly relevant today. Artists have always imagined, questioned and reshaped the natural world, and continue to do so. The exhibition tells a timeless story that moves between beauty and decay, carrying within it a fragile hope for renewal.
