London Climate Action Week In Conversation: Justin Brice Guariglia and Nigel Winser
6.30-8pm
Join us for a talk with environmental consultant Nigel Winser within Justin Brice Guariglia’s exhibition Agentic Forests. Winser will be in the gallery, in conversation with Guariglia who will be live on Zoom. This will be followed by an informal tour of the exhibition, in which artist Guariglia rigorously depicts infinitely complex forest ecosystems, asserting the forest as agentic - a subject, not an object - that far exceeds human comprehension.
Nigel Winser has had a career directing interdisciplinary research and learning programmes in Africa, the Middle East and Asia to support community-led conservation and sustainable development priorities. He was Deputy Director of the Royal Geographical Society for 30 years, responsible for developing impactful geographical surveys involving government leaders, field scientists, teachers, students, artists and the business community. The first being a major rainforest survey in the mountains of Borneo. In 2005, Nigel joined Earthwatch as its Executive Director, heading its European ‘citizen science’ programmes and its international programmes in Africa, India and the Middle East. To this day, he is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with brave advocates committed to the 17 sustainable development goals, carbon reduction and habitat restoration on land and sea.
