Born in London in 1938, William Pye has dedicated his life to exploring the sculptural possibilities of form, material, and movement. After studying at Wimbledon School of Art (1958-61) and the Royal College of Art's School of Sculpture (1961-65), Pye began his career working primarily with stainless steel and cast bronze. He has received multiple honours, including first prize at the Budapest International Sculpture Exhibition (1981), two ABSA awards, the Royal UENO Award in Japan, and a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.
