Through ambiguous spaces and elusive objects, London-based Sarah Longworth-West (b. 1981) evokes a sense of place that might hold remnants or the illusory presence of people. Her work reflects our current environmental issues around consumerism, waste, and the material culture of objects woven together through deliberate compositional placement, colour, texture, and volume. Longworth-West produces traditional handmade gesso, adding pigment and overlapping layers to fuse colour.
