Edinburgh-born Lindsey Jean McLean's (b. 1991) artistic voice emerged from the environment she grew up in, the late 1990s and early 2000s culture of masculinity, and "hard men" realism. Her practice explores how her experience fits within the history of art while questioning traditional constructs of femininity and their influence on our understanding of gender, sexuality, and power. Based in London, McLean studied at Glasgow School of Art and the Royal Drawing School. In 2021, she completed her MFA in Painting at the Slade School of Fine Art.
