With over a decade of painting experience, YU Xiao (b. 1980) is a London-based artist, art educator, and practice-led researcher. She teaches in both the UK and China, contributes to publications, and has authored Interviews with well-known contemporary British artists. She is currently completing a practice-led PhD at the Royal College of Art.
YU Xiao's work draws on self-reflection and cultural observation of the female experience, exploring the relationship between the painted body and the female body. Encoding subtle physical shifts as abstract "secret codes," she examines the tension between idealism and reality.
