'Sponge Separator' is an example of recent experiments with mono-printing using studio detritus such as bubble wrap, and applying paint via unconventional tools such as - in the case of this work - a sponge used to separate oil pastels from a recent delivery of art materials. This work also references my ongoing exploration of the 'edge' as a tool for raising the concept of assumption.
London-based Deborah Lerner (b. 1989) graduated from Camberwell College of Art in 2023 and was awarded a scholarship to the inaugural Apollo Painting School in 2024.
