Born in Petersburg, Russia, Katya Granova (b. 1988) lives and works in London. In her practice, she transfers old found photographs onto canvas and approaches its surface as a portal, bringing her physical presence into the scene from the past. In 2020, she collaborated with Burberry UK, and in 2021, her work entered the permanent collection of the Royal College of Art.
Some past events make it into history, but most of it is lost, and I want to give everyday events of ordinary people more life through my practice.
