British artist Gill Rocca (b. 1971) is recognised for her contemporary landscape paintings in oil. She studied BA Fine Art at Leeds University before completing her MFA in Barcelona in 1996.
Using a restrained colour palette, Rocca applies thin oil glazes over smooth, hand-finished gesso surfaces. Depicting uninhabited, otherworldly spaces, her recent focus on woodland and fading light reflects a fascination with the passage of time. The works evoke a dreamlike tension between reality, memory, and imagination.
Based in London, for the last 25 years she has exhibited regularly in the UK and internationally, with representation in the UK, Canada and Hong Kong.
