The grid and a pattern of repeated geometric forms are the foundation for all the paintings and monotypes and always provide a structure for a composition; often this is quite tangible, sometimes it is concealed and disrupted through a process of layering and rotation. The 'dot' motif in the artworks functions as a 'pointer' - a method of pointing to and highlighting the positioning of space and colour inside the picture frame. The aim is to produce an optic, aesthetic experience and a new interpretation of the Modernist concept of op-art or systems art.
