Bristol-based Stewart Geddes (b. 1961) explores how abstraction draws attention to surface, colour, and shape, while simultaneously evoking the qualities and atmosphere of particular landscapes. Geddes was elected President of the Royal West of England Academy in 2016. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally, and has work held in a number of public collections including the UK Parliamentary Art Collection (House of Commons), The Royal Collection and Cardiff School of Management, Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Both PILNUR and RAOLOB deploy the typical tactics of a prescribed palette, an initial activation of the surface, and then a dialogue in which the first draft is adjusted until a surprising outcome is 'found'.
