London-based artist Justine Formentelli (b. 1973) spent her formative years in the Caribbean, Réunion Island, and Morocco, with her work shaped by transitory experiences and constantly changing environments. Through undulating forms, transparency, and layered compositions, she explores the fluid boundaries of the self in dialogue with the surrounding world. Abode was inspired by surrealist approaches to ink staining, emerged through layered ink, acrylic and collage in an intuitive process.
In 2018, Formentelli received an MA in Fine Art at City and Guilds of London Art School.
