Nadav Kander's photographic career spans three decades, his artistic practice stretches across the photographic medium, and his award-winning commercial, portraiture, figurative and landscape work is all underlined by the signature style which often evokes feelings of quiet and unease.
To celebrate Kander's latest accolade as the 2019 recipient of the Sony World Photography Awards’ Outstanding Contribution to Photography, a selection of Kander’s imagery will be shown at Somerset House during the 2019 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition. Following its London debut, the exhibition will embark on a global tour including exhibitions in Japan, Germany and Italy.
In a recent interview with the World Photography Organisation, Kander described the evocative intent of his work:
‘Whether it’s an image of an estuary or a portrait, I’m looking for a reaction from the viewer that will encourage them to – even without knowing it sometimes – ask questions and react within their own bodies.’
