Mimi Mollaca hosts a discussion at the Royal Photographic Society with Lorenzo Vitturi, Aron Mörel, Dr Lucy Soutter, Marisa Bellani, Tim Clark. In a world flooded with images we need photographers more than ever not just as image-makers, but as intelligent interpreters of the world. This talk explores some of the strategies contemporary photographers are exploring to challenge traditional modes of photography. Operating as researchers, curators, artists, archivists, activists and cultural translators, photographers are proposing new ways to make and shape meaning.
Lorenzo Vitturi, is a photographer and sculptor based in London.
Aron Mörel, founder of photo and fine art book publisher Morel Books.
Dr Lucy Soutter, Course Leader of the MA in Photography Arts, and is an artist, critic and art historian at the University of Westminster. Her presentation is titled: Challenging Photography, Challenging Photographers.
Marisa Bellani, the founder and director of Roman Road gallery, Bethnal Green, London.
Tim Clark, curator, writer and since 2008 editor of 1000 Words He will be presenting 1000 Words: editing and curating as practice and pedagogy.
The event is introduced and hosted by Mimi Mollica, from Photo Meet.
The event is free but booking is required. Refreshments will be provided and attendees are welcome to stay on at the end of the day for drinks and an opportunity to meet the Society's new President and trustees.
