Flowers Gallery is delighted to announce the first solo exhibition in the United States by Nancy Fouts bringing together key pieces from the past decade alongside new works on view for the first time. The exhibition addresses recurring themes throughout her work, such as time, nature and religious iconography.
Fouts describes her approach to gleaning ideas from everyday life as ‘beachcombing’, rediscovering the familiar with what she refers to as a childlike curiosity. An avid collector of objects, Fouts considers the activity of collecting vital to her work, with found materials offering ‘playgrounds’ for invention.
Fouts' sculptures and paintings are skillfully and meticulously crafted, rarely using assistants, taking an innovative approach to developing materials and techniques to suit each concept.
