Tokyo Compression #18, 2009
Tourism, travel and everyday life is the key thematic focus for the 2015-16 exhibition programme at Belfast Exposed. The theme will be explored through a series of exhibitions representing a range of perspectives and photographic approaches, including Tokyo Compression by Michael Wolf.
This body of work depicts the daily commute in Tokyo and is made up of portraits of people in the subway constrained between glass, steel and fellow travellers. The work is a fascinating study in the psychology of the modern commuter and the techniques people use to cope with the discomfort of this daily exigency.
Michael Wolf will exhibit a brand new body of work at Flowers Gallery, Kingsland Road in November 2015.
