Trevor Sutton (b 1948)

Trevor Sutton is a London-based painter and printmaker, working with abstract forms to create sensuous, physical works.

Sutton studied at Hornsey College of Art and Birmingham Polytechnic, graduating in the 1970s. Throughout his career Sutton's paintings and prints have demonstrated the aesthetics of a ritualistic and ordered artistic process, working with circular, square or rectangular formats, and more recently, grids. Since 2008 he has been incorporating hand-painted collaged elements, in addition to working directly onto the surface of the work.

Trevor Sutton's work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the UK and internationally. He is included in a number of collections including the Arts Council and British Council.
