Jane Edden's Post Secrets reinstalled in The Hayes, Cardiff

The Hayes, Cardiff
Fourteen years on from when it was first installed, Jane Edden’s public art project, ‘Post Secrets’, has been refurbished and reinstalled.

“Rather than add more things to the public space I decided to subvert something that was already being placed there, so I created miniature scenes within the pedestrian bollards that were needed in the Hayes area.

The scenes are viewable through a small set of lenses and lit naturally through glass at the top, I used mirrors and careful modelling to make the space inside appear slightly magical, larger than it really is.

The brief was to produce something that was owned by the people of Cardiff, something that could be shared, that if it involved language it must be bilingual, this made me think about body language, a truly international language. I collaborated with, and sketched the students at the Royal collage of drama in Cardiff, and used those drawings to laser cut tiny people that let the viewer build their own narrative about the scenarios I created.” - Jane Edden
